Ever wonder about how your city government works? The city of Lansing is looking for interested applicants for its 7th Annual Citizens’ Academy, beginning in September. The Citizens’ Academy is an interactive class in which students learn about the workings of Lansing city government. Participants gain insight into how various City Departments operate. Classes will be held once a month from Sept. 2016 through April 2017, usually on the second Wed. of the month from 6-8 p.m. The first class will be Wed., Sept. 14.
There is no cost to participate in the Citizens’ Academy, but it does require a time commitment. The program is open to Lansing residents or business owners 18 years of age and older. Applications are available at City Hall, 800 1st Terr. Residents can also apply on the City’s website, www.lansing.ks.us. Class size is limited to 15 participants. Applications must be received by 5 p.m. on Sept. 9, 2016.
