Basehor Celebrates Fourth of July with Parade, Food & Fireworks

A Fourth of July parade and fireworks are planned for Independence Day festivities in Basehor, Kansas. Hosted by the community organization Gold Pride and Pride, this year’s theme is Celebrating America’s Youth. Day care centers, school groups, or church youth groups are invited to participate. There is no pre-registration form but parade participants and floats must be at the Holy Angels Catholic Church parking lot by 7 p.m. The parade begins at 7:30 p.m. and fireworks will light up the sky near the Basehor Linwood High School football field around 9 p.m. Food and concessions will be sold at the BLHS football field, and the Chamber will be selling cotton candy and popcorn. The Chamber’s Citizen of the Year Award Presentation will take place around 8:30 near the football grandstand, followed by the national anthem and the fireworks display.

This year’s Grand Marshall is Lloyd Martley.  Vickey Long, last year’s Basehor Chamber Outstanding Citizen of the Year, Corbin Nirschl, the BLHS State Wrestling Champ, Fire Departments, Boy Scouts, Mayor, the Color Guard and a VFW Flag float will also be featured in the parade. Floats from businesses, antique cars, motorized vehicles (motorcycles MUST be tagged and registered), tractors and animals are also invited to participate in the parade.
